As-salamu alaykum and welcome!

I’m glad you’re here. I know that facing the discomfort that comes with uncertainty takes courage and that the process of finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming at times. Connecting with a female Muslim practitioner, who appreciates your unique needs as a Muslim woman, can make the process so much easier and even more enjoyable. Having someone to hold space for you so you can unpack and address the difficulties you’re facing, no matter how big or small, can help you develop the awareness, resilience, and strength you need to tend to your whole self with kindness and compassion. Perhaps you’ve reached a point in your life where you’re no longer willing to put your needs or dreams on hold, where the status quo just isn’t cutting it, and you are ready for more. As you begin to explore ways to bring about this much-needed change in your life, I invite you to reflect on Allah’s words in the Qur’an where he says: “Allah intends for you ease, not hardship.” (Surah al-Baqarah, 185).

Making the choice to go to therapy is often followed by the question, “Now what?” At Muslimah Therapy, I provide sisters with holistic support that is rooted in our shared Islamic values; values that invite us to a special kind of healing that reconnects us with our fitra and ultimately strengthens our relationship with Allah. Through a combination of Expressive Arts Therapy, a relational and experiential arts-based psychotherapy approach, and other therapy models, you’ll have the opportunity to explore new ways to rediscover your inner resources so you can begin to know, accept, and trust yourself.

I meet you as a whole person exactly where you are as we begin to addresses your emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual needs–they all matter. You will be gently guided through your personal healing journey as you learn to nurture the qualities of your true, authentic self, in shaa Allah; qualities like Compassion, Creativity, Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, Calm, Connectedness, Clarity, Presence, Persistence, Perspective, Playfulness, and Patience. This journey towards self-connection and emotional well-being begins the moment we choose to show up for ourselves. By being here today and exploring this alternative to talk therapy, you’ve already taken that first step, ma shaa Allah. So, take a moment to be with that and celebrate the success Allah has so generously given you, remembering his promise to you: “If you give thanks, I will give you more.” (Surah Ibrahim, 7) You’re off to an amazing start, ma shaa Allah! And truly, there is no tawfiq except with Allah.

You may be wondering how to determine if therapy is the right choice for you. I actually get that question a lot. Sisters from around the world come to Muslimah Therapy with a wide variety of intentions, including addressing specific goals or issues, prioritizing self-care and personal growth, or healing from abuse or other traumas. The commonality, however, among all sisters seeking therapy is the desire to develop the necessary tools and resources to work through life’s challenges, whatever they may be.

Most of my clients are Muslim women who, like you and me, struggle with everyday challenges. These challenges often leave them feeling overwhelmed, stagnant, and disconnected from their true selves, passions, and purpose. Many are burnt out moms who have reached a tipping point where they realize that neglecting their own needs is no longer an option. By the time they reach me, they are ready and eager to start showing up for themselves and begin prioritizing their own self-care, so they can rediscover the balance, inner peace, joy and sense of purpose they have been missing for far too long. Very early on in their therapy journeys they often regain clarity and start feeling inspired, energized, and deeply connected to their creator. Imagine having a life you keep falling in love with over and over again. What a wonderful feeling that would be, Alhamdulillah! May Allah grant us all the ability to engage in this essential work of healing and growth in a way that is most pleasing to Him. Ameen.

If you’re similar to the women I work with, you value a balanced approach to healing that respects both your commitment to your faith and your personal mental health and life goals. I am committed to supporting you in achieving this by offering culturally-sensitive, non-judgmental support that feels right for you. If you’re interested in learning more about whether this is the right fit for you, let’s discover together! I invite you to book a free 45-minute discovery call, where we can meet over Zoom and explore what it would be like to work together. I’ll share some details about my approach and why I’m so passionate about it (spoiler alert: it’s how I healed my own intergenerational complex trauma and found freedom from emotional pain and decades of turmoil). You’ll also have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have. May your journey towards wellness and wholeness be a beautifully blessed one. I’m looking forward to meeting you soon so we can get your creative self-discovery journey underway, in shaa Allah.
